Former Coldwater Mayor Mauri Cron passes away

Former Coldwater Mayor Mauri Cron has passed away at the age of 84. Cron served as Coldwater's Mayor from 1972 to 1991. Cron was born on a farm near Cassella. Cron graduated from high school in 1954. Cron then volunteered for a two year stint in the United States Army. Upon an honorable discharge, he played two years of minor league baseball with the Cincinnati Reds organization as a right handed pitcher. Dolores and Mauri married in 1957 and had five children. Cron worked as an insurance agent with Nationwide for 42 years. Cron was active in the Kiwanis and served as Governor of the Ohio District in 2005. Another significant commitment was in PERI, Public Employees Retirement, Inc. Cron also served on the board of The Mercer County Civic Foundation.
