About 54% of Ohio School Levies Pass, Income Tax Requests Struggle
COLUMBUS, Ohio — About 54% of school levies on Ohio ballots passed Tuesday, according to figures from the Ohio School Boards Association reported by WBNS-TV and the Ohio News Network.
Renewals performed better than requests for new funding, while additional property tax levies passed at a higher rate than income tax requests.
Five of 39 school income tax requests passed, an approval rate of approximately 13%.
Association CEO Tom Hosler said voters’ unfamiliarity with school income taxes may be contributing to the difficulty districts face in securing approval.
