Mercer County Announces New Electric Aggregation Rate Through June 2029
Mercer County has signed a new electric aggregation agreement with Dynegy, setting a fixed generation rate of 11.52 cents per kilowatt-hour for eligible residents and small businesses through the June 2029 billing period.
The county says the agreement provides price stability amid unpredictable electricity markets. However, savings compared with the local utility’s standard service offer, also called the price to compare, are not guaranteed throughout the contract.
The rate was secured through competitive bidding in partnership with other communities. Participants may opt out or leave the program at any time without cancellation or termination fees. An optional price backed by 100% renewable energy is also available, although that rate was not included in the announcement.
Eligible customers will receive opt-out notices from Dynegy in the coming weeks. Those notices will explain the program, budget billing information and instructions for declining participation by mail, phone or online. Eligible customers who wish to participate do not need to take action.
The new rate will appear on utility bills approximately 45 to 60 days after customers receive their notices. Participants will continue receiving one monthly bill from their utility, and electric service will not be interrupted.
Outages and service emergencies should continue to be reported to the local utility, with emergency services contacted when appropriate.
