Minster Electric Department recognized for safety and mutual aid

The Minster Electric Department received two honors during the 2026 American Municipal Power Annual Conference in Columbus.

The department received a Safety Award in the Transmission and Distribution category. The award recognizes public power distribution divisions that recorded less than one percent time loss because of reportable accidents during the past year.

Michelle Palmer, AMP’s vice president of technical services and compliance, commended the department for its commitment to protecting employees and maintaining a strong culture of safety.

Minster Electric was also recognized for participating in AMP’s Mutual Aid Program. The department provided assistance to the City of Celina during an outage event.

Palmer said mutual aid crews make a meaningful difference when public power communities experience major outages.

The AMP Annual Conference was held October 12 through 14 in Columbus and included presentations and panel discussions involving industry experts and representatives from partner organizations.
