Celina council to consider Sugar Street bids and Eastview Park lease

Celina council to consider Sugar Street bids and Eastview Park lease

Celina City Council will consider several pieces of emergency legislation during its meeting Monday evening.

One ordinance would authorize Safety Service Director Kent Bryan Hitchcock to accept bids for the first phase of the Sugar Street Improvements Project.

Council will also consider an agreement allowing the Celina Rotary Club to lease a portion of Eastview Park. Details about the proposed use of the property were not included in the meeting agenda.

Another ordinance would establish a new Miller Woods Land Sale and Improvement Fund. The fund would account for proceeds from the sale of city-owned property to the Mercer County commissioners. The money would be used for environmental restoration and recreational trail improvements undertaken by the county.

Additional legislation would authorize the city auditor to enter into an agreement with Unified Group Service to administer the city’s employee health benefit plans. Council will also consider appropriating monetary donations received by the Celina Police Department.

During old business, council is scheduled to give a second reading to an agreement with the Mercer County commissioners for indigent defense services in Celina Municipal Court during 2027.

A Committee of the Whole meeting begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by the regular council meeting at 7 p.m. Both meetings will be held in council chambers at 225 North Main Street.
