Auglaize County Historical Society to present program on Midwestern barns

The Auglaize County Historical Society will present “Barns as Evocative Elements of the Midwestern Landscape” during a Facebook Live event Tuesday, October 27th, at 7 p.m.

The program is being presented in conjunction with the America 250 celebration and Auglaize County’s recognition of its agricultural heritage, particularly its barns and outbuildings.

The featured speaker will be Dr. Timothy Anderson, an associate professor in the Department of Geography at Ohio University. Anderson holds a doctorate from Texas A&M University and researches the historical geography of the United States, cultural landscapes and the German diaspora.

Historical Society Director Rachel Barber said Anderson is an entertaining speaker and the image-filled presentation will explore the place of barns in landscapes such as those found throughout Auglaize County.

The free program may be viewed by visiting the Auglaize County Historical Society’s Facebook page shortly before 7 p.m. The livestream will appear as the page’s most recent post.

Founded in 1963, the Auglaize County Historical Society collects, preserves and shares the history of Auglaize County.
