Suspicious package sent to Congresswoman Joyce Beatty’s office

Authorities are investigating a suspicious package sent to the office of Ohio Congresswoman Joyce Beatty.

Beatty said the package arrived Saturday. Officials have not disclosed what was inside the package or identified who sent it.

In a statement, Beatty said she takes any attempt to threaten or intimidate her, her staff or her colleagues seriously.

She also condemned acts of political intimidation and said they have no place in the country’s democratic process.

Police are continuing to investigate.
