Undefeated Celina and Ottawa-Glandorf meet with WBL championship implications

Undefeated Celina and Ottawa-Glandorf meet with WBL championship implications

Two undefeated teams will meet Friday night when Celina travels to Ottawa-Glandorf for a game that could determine the Western Buckeye League championship.

The winner will take sole possession of first place in the WBL and secure at least a share of the conference championship with one regular-season game remaining.

Celina football coach Brennen Bader said winning at Ottawa-Glandorf is difficult under any circumstances, and the championship implications will add even more intensity to the matchup.

The game also features two sophomore quarterbacks leading teams that have followed different paths to this point.

Celina’s season has included the emotional story surrounding Parker Wink and his return following an injury. Ottawa-Glandorf, meanwhile, has completed a major turnaround after finishing 0-10 last season and entering Friday’s game undefeated.

Bader described Ottawa-Glandorf as a physical, fundamentally sound and well-coached football team.

“A lot of storylines, two sophomore quarterbacks going head-to-head, and it should be a great atmosphere,” Bader said.

Celina will attempt to remain unbeaten while earning its biggest victory of the season and moving one step closer to an outright WBL championship.

WCSM will have live coverage of Celina at Ottawa-Glandorf on AM 1350 and Lake 100.3 FM. Bob Grubaugh and Alex Clune will call the game, with pregame coverage beginning at 6:40 p.m. and kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
