Celina and Marion Local Lead Local Teams in Latest OHSAA Football Computer Ratings
Ten football teams from Mercer and Auglaize counties are currently positioned to qualify for the postseason following the release of the latest OHSAA computer ratings.
Celina and Marion Local lead their respective regions entering Week 8. The undefeated Bulldogs are ranked first in Division III, Region 10 with a 7-0 record. Wapakoneta is fifth in the same region, while St. Marys is eighth.
In Division V, Coldwater is fifth in Region 18 with a 6-1 record.
St. Henry currently holds the final playoff position in Division VI, Region 24. The Redskins are ranked 12th with a 4-3 record.
Five area teams are inside the qualifying field in Division VII, Region 28. Undefeated Marion Local remains first, followed by Minster in third place. Waynesfield-Goshen is fifth, New Bremen is seventh and Fort Recovery is 11th.
Under the current playoff format, the top 12 teams in each region qualify for the postseason. The top four seeds receive a first-round bye.
If the playoffs began this week, Celina, Marion Local and Minster would each receive a first-round bye. St. Henry and Fort Recovery currently have the smallest margin for error, sitting 12th and 11th in their respective regions.
The final computer ratings and playoff qualifiers will be announced Sunday, October 25. First-round games will be played October 30, with the higher-seeded teams serving as hosts.
