Coldwater Officers Receive Life-Saving Awards as Village Projects Continue

Two members of the Coldwater Police Department were recognized during Monday night’s Village Council meeting for their response to a medical emergency earlier this summer.

Police Chief Kevin Wynk presented life-saving awards to Patrolman Chase Kuhlman and Sergeant Ryan Griesdorn for their response to an incident at Memorial Park in August.

Village Administrator Jason Eyink said the officers used an automated external defibrillator and performed CPR until the squad arrived.

The recognition was one of several updates from Monday’s meeting as village officials also continue work on multiple infrastructure projects.

Eyink told WCSM Thursday that final paving was underway on North Cedar Street, putting that project close to completion.

Work also continues on Terrace Avenue, where PAB Construction Company is installing a new waterline and reconstructing the roadway. PAB has also been involved with the village’s North Cedar Street improvements

Eyink said the Terrace Avenue project continues to make good progress.

Meanwhile, work is also underway at Coldwater’s East Water Tower. Midwest Tank is repairing the interior coating of the tower’s stem, with Eyink reporting that project is progressing well.

The village also has a community event planned for this weekend.

Coldwater’s Tree Commission is sponsoring a nature walk at Baker Woods Saturday, October 3, at 10 a.m. The event is open to the public.
