Fort Wayne Man Held Without Bond on Felony Fleeing Charge in Mercer County

A Fort Wayne man is being held without bond after being indicted on a felony charge connected to an alleged police pursuit in Mercer County.

Joshua C. Phillips, 29, was indicted by a Mercer County grand jury on one count of failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony.

According to the indictment, Phillips allegedly operated a vehicle on September 8 and willfully attempted to elude a police officer after receiving a visible or audible signal to stop. Prosecutors allege his operation of the vehicle created a substantial risk of serious physical harm to people or property.

A warrant was issued following the indictment and was served Thursday. Phillips was taken to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and is being held without bond.

An initial appearance was scheduled for Friday at 1 p.m. before Mercer County Common Pleas Court Judge Matthew Fox.

The charge remains an allegation, and Phillips is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
