Roger Lewis Case Bound Over on Felony Domestic Violence Charge

A 56-year-old man is facing a fourth-degree felony domestic violence charge following an alleged incident in Wapakoneta.

According to court documents, Roger Benton Lewis is charged with domestic violence and first-degree misdemeanor aggravated menacing. The domestic violence count is a felony because Lewis was previously convicted of domestic violence in Van Wert Municipal Court in 2003.

The complaint alleges Wapakoneta Police responded to a residence shortly after 8 p.m. September 12 following a reported fight.

Investigators allege Lewis spit on a woman before an altercation began between Lewis and the woman’s son. Lewis is accused of pointing a stun gun at the man and threatening him with a piece of wood.

The complaint also alleges Lewis damaged a door while attempting to reenter the residence before grabbing the woman’s arms and pushing her. The woman’s son reportedly intervened and removed Lewis from the apartment.

Lewis appeared in Auglaize County Municipal Court on September 21 and waived his right to a preliminary hearing. The case was bound over to Auglaize County Common Pleas Court for further proceedings.

His $10,000 bond was continued and transferred to Common Pleas Court. A temporary protection order also remains in effect.

The charges are allegations, and Lewis is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
