Minster Board of Education Overview - September 21, 2026

The Minster Board of Education met for their monthly meeting Monday evening.

Donations

The Board accepted the following donations:

• $300 from the Class of 2033 for “No Shame Lunch Accounts”
• $500 from “In Memory of Jim & Beth Hinker” for the HS Library
• $500 from the Monnin Living Trust for the Girls Basketball Program
• $350 each from the Minster Civic Association, Minster Journeyman’s Club and Minster Service Club for HS PBIS
• $2,500 from the Minster Civic Association for “Free Student Admission”
• $100 from the Van Wert Peony Festival for the Juggling Club
• $250 from the New Bremen Festival Association for the HS Band

Board Recognition of Students

Superintendent’s Report

Superintendent Josh Meyer shared the results of the recently released State Report Card with the Board. He informed the Board that Minster HS, Minster Elementary and the District as a whole all received 5 Stars on the report card. Mr. Meyer’s full report can be found here: Superintendent’s Report.

K-6 Principal’s Report

Superintendent Josh Meyer shared the elementary report. He updated the Board on fall MAP and Acadiance scores. He also shared Back to School attendance information with the Board.

7-12 Principal’s Report

Jr/Sr High School Principal Austin Kaylor shared the Jr/Sr High School update. He shared this year’s class officers and student council members with the Board and shared with the Board this year’s Homecoming Court members. He also informed the Board that 95% of our 7-12 students participate in at least one extracurricular activity and updated the Board on the CATS Pride program.

Curriculum and Instruction

Mrs. Jeanna Heitkamp shared an update on Minster’s Talented and Gifted Program with the Board. She told the Board about many of the activities that happen in the Talented and Gifted Program.

Treasurer’s Report

Treasurer Gina Selby provided the Board with her monthly report. Mrs. Selby shared fund transfers and advances with the Board and updated the Board on property tax settlements.

Superintendent’s Consent Agenda

During the Superintendent’s Consent Agenda portion of the meeting, the Minster Board of Education approved the following:

• Approved overnight trip requests for the FFA to attend the state and national FFA conventions.

New Business

In new business, the Minster Board took action on the following items:

• Approved a land exchange agreement with the Village of Minster.
• Approved a service agreement with Montgomery County ESC.

The Board set October 26 at 7 p.m. in the Large Group Room as the time for its next monthly meeting.

The Minster Board scheduled a work session for Wednesday night, September 23, at 6 p.m. in the High School Gym. The purpose of this meeting is to gather community input regarding a potential building project.

Personnel Recommendations

The Board took action on the following personnel recommendations:

• Approved Cook’s Helper contracts for Brenda Meiring and Mary Hummel.
• Approved a Bus Route Driver contract for Jay Brown.
• Approved Philip Roetgerman as a groundskeeper.
• Accepted the resignation of Travis LeDoux as Junior Class Concessions.
• Approved a number of extracurricular contracts.

Executive Session

The Board of Education entered into executive session to discuss the employment and compensation of a public employee, to consider details relative to the district’s security arrangements and emergency response protocols, and the purchase or sale of property. No action was taken after the executive session.
