Parkway School Board Honors Students, Renames Auditorium

The Parkway Local Board of Education recognized student achievement and approved several district items during its September meeting.

Superintendent Laura Young said the board honored 25 elementary, middle and high school students who earned perfect scores on state assessments administered during the spring of 2025.

The board also voted to rename the school auditorium the Richard Sherrick Auditorium. A dedication is planned for Saturday, November 21.

Board members authorized the district to advertise for bids to purchase one or more new school buses. They also approved overnight trips for FFA members attending the National FFA Convention in October and for the annual eighth-grade trip to Washington, D.C.

The district accepted several local contributions, including a large weatherproof flag donated by the Rockford American Legion and Sons of the American Legion.

Parkway will hold its “Wake Up with the Panthers” community breakfast on Thursday, October 15. The event will provide information about the district and include a presentation from FFA leaders.
