Celina City Council is continuing to study the possibility of residential tax abatements within the city.

Mayor Jeffrey Hazel said the issue was discussed during a Committee of the Whole meeting held before Monday night's regular council session.

Several members of the public attended the meeting and offered opinions both in support of and against residential tax abatement.

Hazel said council remains on a fact finding mission as members work to determine what options are available and what could be appropriate for the community.

No final decision was made Monday.

During its regular meeting, council also addressed an updated emergency services agreement with Mercer County.

The agreement is connected to county EMS levy funding that previously allowed Celina to add three employees to its fire department who also serve as paramedics.

Council also moved forward with its annual agreement with Celina City Schools to provide a school resource officer.

Another ordinance introduced Monday involves an event planned in a city park next June.
