Several historical societies and museums across Auglaize County will continue their Fourth Sunday Open House series in September.

The program gives residents and visitors an opportunity to tour historic sites throughout the county on the fourth Sunday of each month through October. Most locations are open from 1 to 4 p.m., although some participating museums operate on slightly different schedules.

The next Fourth Sunday Open House will be September 27.

Participating locations include the Auglaize County Historical Society’s Wapakoneta Museum at 206 West Main Street in Wapakoneta and the Mooney Museum at 223 South Main Street in St. Marys.

Other participating sites include the Cridersville Historical Society at 111 West Sugar Street in Cridersville, the Minster Historical Society at 112 West Fourth Street in Minster, the New Knoxville Historical Society at 107 East German Street in New Knoxville and the Uniopolis Historical Society on East Ohio Street in Uniopolis.

In New Bremen, the New Bremen Historic Association’s Luelleman House at 120 North Main Street and Pape House at 236 North Main Street also participate. The Minster and New Bremen locations are generally open from 1 to 3 p.m.

Auglaize County Historical Society Director Rachel Barber said the open houses are intended to make local history more accessible while encouraging residents and visitors to spend an afternoon exploring multiple historical sites throughout the county.

Heritage tourism banners are also displayed at participating museum locations during the countywide open houses.

The Fourth Sunday Open House series continues through October.
