A Cecil man suffered life threatening injuries in a motorcycle crash Saturday night in Putnam County.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says the crash happened at approximately 8:17 p.m. on August 22 on State Route 634 near Road J in Perry Township.

According to the Lima Post, 42 year old Louis Wannemacher of Cecil was traveling north on State Route 634 on a 2008 Harley Davidson Street Glide when he went off the left side of the road, struck a telephone pole and overturned.

Wannemacher suffered life threatening injuries and was transported by Continental EMS to Putnam County Ambulatory Care in Glandorf. He was later flown to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.

Troopers say Wannemacher was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The motorcycle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene by Jim Schmidt Towing.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Putnam County EMS, Continental EMS, Continental Fire and Jim Schmidt Towing.

The crash remains under investigation. Troopers say alcohol does appear to be a factor.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminds motorists not to drive impaired and to wear a helmet when riding a motorcycle.
