Parkway Board of Education Sets Strategic Planning Work Session

Parkway Board of Education Sets Strategic Planning Work Session

ROCKFORD — The Parkway Local Board of Education will hold a work session Tuesday, August 25, as district leaders continue planning for the future of Parkway Local Schools.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the Community Room at Parkway Local Schools, 400 Buckeye Street in Rockford.

District officials say the work session will focus specifically on strategic planning. No official business will be conducted during the meeting, meaning the session is intended for discussion and planning rather than formal board action.

The meeting comes after the Board of Education held several other work sessions during the summer, including sessions on July 8, July 22, July 30 and August 10, according to the district's Board of Education records.

Superintendent Laura Young has said one of her priorities is listening to and connecting with parents, students, staff and community partners as the district looks for ways to strengthen its schools and prepare students for the future. Young became Parkway's superintendent ahead of the 2026-27 school year.

Parkway's stated mission emphasizes using district and community resources to provide students with a safe environment, a challenging curriculum and opportunities to develop academic excellence, integrity and leadership.

The August 25 strategic planning session begins at 6 p.m. in the Community Room. No business will be conducted.
