Parkway School Board Reviews Five-Year Forecast, Facility Projects Ahead of New School Year

The Parkway Local Board of Education met Wednesday, August 12, taking action on several items as the district prepares for the start of the 2026-27 school year.

During the district’s Parkway Points of Pride recognition, the board honored Cammie Langenkamp for placing eighth at the state track meet in June. Superintendent Laura Young congratulated Langenkamp for her hard work and for representing Parkway at the state level.

The board also approved the district’s five-year financial forecast, along with bus routes, driver certifications and mentor teacher contracts for the upcoming school year.

Young said several facility projects are also moving forward across the Parkway campus.

Planning is underway for a new preschool playground, which is expected to be installed during the summer of 2027.

The district is also preparing for installation of a new baseball scoreboard, with the project expected to be fully completed no later than December 2026.

As students prepare to return, Parkway will hold Back to School Night Thursday, August 13 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The first day of school for students in grades two through 12 is Wednesday, August 19. Kindergarten and first-grade families are being reminded to check the district schedule to determine which day their students are expected to attend.

Young also reminded families to complete student emergency information through FinalForms as soon as possible.

Young thanked Parkway parents, staff and community members for their continued support as the district begins another school year.
