St. Henry School Board Reviews Financial Outlook, Recognizes Longtime Board Member

The St. Henry Consolidated Local Schools Board of Education met for its August meeting Wednesday evening, recognizing a longtime board member while also reviewing district finances and preparations for the upcoming school year.

An Ohio School Boards Association representative recognized Paul Morman for 15 years of service on the St. Henry Board of Education. Superintendent Adam Puthoff thanked Morman for his commitment to the district and its students.

Puthoff said the district is in the final stages of completing several projects before students return. Staff orientation is scheduled for Monday, August 24, with the first day of school for students in grades one through 12 set for Tuesday, August 25.

Bus routes for the 2026-27 school year were emailed to families August 7. Parents of students who ride the bus are being asked to contact the central office if changes are needed. The board formally approved six full bus routes along with the district’s daycare shuttle.

Treasurer/CFO Jen Bruns reviewed the district’s financial outlook and discussed the potential impact of changes to Ohio property tax laws. Puthoff said the district is positioned to evaluate how the changes could affect school funding during the coming year and determine how to address any potential revenue losses while maintaining financial stability.

The board also accepted several $100 donations toward advertising in the district calendar from San Juan Stop, The Home Place, Three Generations, Cozy Cabin Cafe, Brides and Beyond and Stifle.

Personnel action included approval of a one-year limited contract for Laura Braun, who will serve as a morning bus aide and an instructional aide in the middle school. The board also approved a list of classified substitutes and Family and Medical Leave Act leave for Heidi Kramer.

Volunteer athletic appointments included Louis Kramer for boys golf, Brody Swartz and Jeremy Schwiderman for football, and Lauren Timmerman for girls basketball.

The board approved Ben Miller as a delegate to the 2026 Ohio School Boards Association Capital Conference and to serve on the Tri Star Advisory Board. Members also approved an update to the district’s 403(b) plan document and the district’s fiscal year 2027 financial forecast.

The board also approved a resolution accepting the donation of the new press box from the St. Henry Athletic Boosters. Puthoff thanked the Athletic Boosters and the St. Henry community for their work on the project, saying the district is excited to begin using the new facility.

The next St. Henry Board of Education meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 9 at 6 p.m. in the High School Media Center.
