Minster Council To Meet Tuesday Night

The Minster Village Council is scheduled to meet Tuesday, July 7, at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers.

According to the agenda, council members are expected to consider several ordinances and resolutions, including a second reading of an ordinance levying special assessments for improvements to North Hamilton Street. Those improvements include asphalt, curb and gutter, and drive approaches.

Council will also discuss a resolution authorizing the village administrator to submit a NatureWorks grant application to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Also on the agenda is an ordinance to award a contract for the purchase of four 2500 KVA three-phase pad mount electrical transformers.

Another ordinance would amend the village’s pay range for part-time police officers.

Under new business, council is expected to consider approval of invoices over $3,000 and the June 2026 income tax report from the City of St. Marys. The agenda lists total invoices at $1,285,669.52 and receipts at $2,289,546.28.

Council is also scheduled to enter executive session to discuss the purchase of land.

Village Administrator Donald Harrod’s report notes that Tom’s Construction continues work on the Paris Street Park parking lot improvement project. Curbing has been poured and backfilled, with paving expected this week before work begins on removing and refinishing the existing parking lot.

Harrod also reported that two PJM Peak Alert events were called last week, on July 2 and July 3. During those alerts, generators registered through PJM were asked to run to add capacity to the grid.

Paulus Excavating is also expected to begin installing curb and gutter along the Columbia Drive extension soon, followed by asphalt work.

A public meeting on the North Garfield Street water and curb project is scheduled from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. following the regular council meeting.
