Wapakoneta Police Investigating Fatal Dirt Bike Crash

A 37-year-old Wapakoneta man died following a dirt bike crash late Thursday night.

According to the Wapakoneta Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 11:49 p.m. to the 800 block of North Blackhoof Street on a report of a single-vehicle dirt bike crash.

The preliminary investigation indicates the operator lost control of the dirt bike and was ejected. Police say the man was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

We are providing additional information regarding the fatal dirt bike accident that occurred yesterday in Wapakoneta.

We report that the driver and victim is from Wapakoneta, 37 year old, Kevin Blair.

The incident is still under investigation.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends during this difficult time.

The victim was transported to Lima Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation. Police are not releasing the victim's identity at this time pending completion of the investigation and notification of family members.

Wapakoneta Police Chief Calvin Schneider extended condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
