SIDNEY, Ohio — An 86-year-old Michigan man died from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash last month on Interstate 75 in Sidney, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at about 6:34 p.m. June 24 near mile marker 92, just north of the exit for Michigan Street.
Investigators said Melvin Howard of Southfield, Michigan, was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban south on Interstate 75 when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a ditch. The SUV then overturned multiple times before hitting a utility pole.
Howard was taken by ambulance to Wilson Health with life-threatening injuries before being transferred by helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital. He died June 27 from injuries sustained in the crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol's Piqua Post continues to investigate the crash, but troopers have determined that a second vehicle may have been involved.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or has video or other information is asked to contact the Piqua Post at 937-773-1131.
