OHSAA Announces Winter Sports Tournament Divisions
The Ohio High School Athletic Association has announced the new divisional breakdowns for the upcoming winter sports tournaments, with several Mercer and Auglaize County schools included in the updated basketball divisions.
The 2026-27 school year will begin the first year of a new two-year base enrollment cycle using data from the Ohio Department of Education. Girls and boys basketball will also include competitive balance data as part of the divisional process.
In girls basketball, Celina and Wapakoneta are listed in Division III, while St. Marys Memorial is in Division IV. Coldwater is in Division V. Several area schools are listed in Division VI, including Marion Local, New Bremen, Parkway, Fort Recovery, Minster and St. Henry. New Knoxville and Waynesfield-Goshen are listed in Division VII.
In boys basketball, Celina and Wapakoneta are listed in Division III, while St. Marys Memorial is in Division IV. Coldwater is in Division V. Parkway and St. Henry are listed in Division VI. New Bremen, Minster, Marion Local, Fort Recovery, New Knoxville and Waynesfield-Goshen are listed in Division VII.
OHSAA also announced divisional breakdowns for swimming and diving and bowling. Wrestling divisional breakdowns will be announced in the fall.
The winter sports of ice hockey, girls gymnastics and girls wrestling will each have one division.
In May, schools were given the opportunity to move up to Division I. The final divisional breakdowns reflect any schools that opted up.
