May Primary Ballot Includes Local Issues In Mercer County, Contested Races In Auglaize County

 

Voters will see a mix of statewide races and local issues on the May 5th primary ballot.

According to the Mercer County Board of Elections 46 day notice, one countywide issue is a renewal levy for the Children Services Division of the Mercer County Department of Job and Family Services. The levy is for 10 years and would provide funding for operating or capital improvement expenses needed to support children services, along with the care and placement of children. The county auditor estimates the levy would collect $487,214 annually at a rate not exceeding 0.4 mill, costing $9 per $100,000 of market value.

Other Mercer County issues include a local liquor option for Sunday sales at Grand Entertainment, LLC, doing business as Plaza Lanes Celina, in Celina A.

Parkway Local School District voters will also see a renewal levy for current expenses. The five year levy is estimated to collect $1,390,689 annually at a rate not exceeding 8.97 mills, costing $185 per $100,000 of market value.

Minster Local School District voters in Marion East 29.2 will see a renewal levy for permanent improvements. That five year levy is estimated to collect $90,423 annually at a rate not exceeding 1.05 mills, costing $12 per $100,000 of market value.

In Auglaize County, a sample Republican primary ballot for St. Marys 2A includes contested races for Governor and Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Treasurer of State, Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court, and Auglaize County Common Pleas Judge. The Common Pleas race lists Zach G. Ferrall and Kristina Morris.

The May 5th primary also includes statewide, congressional, state legislative, judicial, and county races.
