Mercer County court filings include assault, theft and drug related cases

CELINA - Recent Mercer County Common Pleas Court filings include three felony indictments returned April 16 and two felony drug complaints filed April 20. The indictments charge Shaydon T. Smith with felonious assault, Cameron A. Jones with theft, and Mason A. West with failure to provide notice of a change of address. Separate criminal complaints charge Aaron J. Schuller and Shaun Steinke with aggravated possession of drugs.

According to the indictment against Smith, he is charged with a second degree felony count of felonious assault for allegedly causing serious physical harm to a victim on or about Feb. 22, 2026, in Mercer County.

Jones was indicted on one count of theft, a fifth degree felony. Court records allege the offense happened between Dec. 23, 2025, and Feb. 10, 2026, and involved $5,757.77.

West was indicted on one count of failure to provide notice of change of address, a first degree felony. The filing alleges the offense stems from an Aug. 20, 2018, failure to notify the sheriff as required under sex offender registration law.

In separate complaints filed April 20, Schuller and Steinke were each charged with aggravated possession of drugs, both fifth degree felonies involving methamphetamine. Schuller’s case alleges the offense occurred on or about April 19, while Steinke’s complaint lists the date of offense as April 18.

As with all criminal cases, the charges and complaints are allegations, and the cases will proceed through Mercer County Common Pleas Court.
