Celina Mercer County Chamber highlights volunteer needs, donation drive and upcoming community events
The Celina Mercer County Chamber of Commerce is sharing a wide range of upcoming volunteer opportunities, fundraisers, and community events across Mercer County.
In a weekly update, Chamber Director Stacy Beougher said EverHeart Hospice is currently seeking volunteers for its annual Camp Courage program. The camp serves children ages 6 through 15 who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Beougher said volunteers will take part in camp activities and help build meaningful relationships with the children. Beougher also highlighted a diaper and formula drive being organized by the Celina Mercer County Chamber Leadership in Action class to benefit Choosing Life Pregnancy Center. Donations will be collected through April 10th at several locations across the Celina Mercer County area, including Mercer County District Library locations, the Mercer Health OB Department, the Cedar Table Cafe and other Mercer Health locations, Peoples Bank, Chief Supermarkets, and the chamber office.
Among the upcoming events, Rockford’s annual Spring Fling is set for Saturday with activities including a pancake day, the Miles Music 5K, a car show, and free family activities.
The Mercer County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will also hold its April meeting on Sunday, April 12th at 2 p.m. at the Mercer County Courthouse. Mercer County Recorder Julie Peel is scheduled to speak about the Fraud Alert Notification Program, Century Farms, and DD214 military discharge records. The meeting is open to the public.
Downtown Celina is also preparing for its annual Chocolate Walk on Friday, April 17th. Organizers say the event will give participants a chance to stroll downtown while enjoying treats and supporting local businesses. Tickets are 25 dollars per person or 2 for 40 dollars, with more information available on the Downtown Celina, Ohio Facebook page.
The Celina American Legion is inviting the public to Dinner Bell Bingo on April 11th at 2 p.m. The event will feature 20 games, with dinner bundles awarded as prizes. Proceeds will benefit the Women’s Auxiliary at the American Legion.
Looking ahead, the Mercer Health 5K Challenge summer running series is set to begin June 20th. Pre registration is available through June 20th at MercerHealth5KChallenge.com.
Beougher also reminded listeners that the Celina Farmers Market indoor season continues through the end of April at the PBS Building at the Mercer County Fairgrounds. The outdoor market is scheduled to return Saturday, May 2nd. The market runs Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
