Eadie Shindeldecker Miller

Eadie Shindeldecker Miller, age 93, of Mendon, passed away
on March 15, 2026, at Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing at
Shane Hill, Rockford.

Eadie was born December 25, 1932, in Beaver Falls, PA, to the
late Carl & Eda (Hoehamer) Shindeldecker.

She was a 1950 Rockford High School graduate, and married
Emmett Miller that same year (they divorced in 1975).  They had
3 children: Dennis D. Miller (who died in 2016), and daughters:
Kris L. Miller Chafin (Les) and Lyn M. Morton (Mike).

Eadie worked at Goodyear for 34 years, beginning in the factory,
becoming a secretary, and advancing to become the first female
scheduling agent at the St. Marys plant.

She possessed many talents, including sewing, crocheting,
quilting, woodworking, and flower gardening.

After retiring, she enjoyed traveling, worked part-time as Mendon
village clerk, volunteered at Roebuck Insurance Agency, and
canvassed for Sheriff Jeff Grey.

An avid sports fan, Eadie especially enjoyed Denny’s basketball
games at Mendon-Union High School and Urbana College, and
her grandchildren's sporting events. She loved watching Indiana
University, Purdue, Duke, and North Carolina basketball games
as well.

Eadie supported Kris and Lyn’s music endeavors by driving to
lessons as far as 50 miles from home and attending concerts
in Hamilton, Dayton and Middletown.

Living alone the second half of her life, Eadie’s rescue dogs
provided her with companionship and amusement.  She was
convinced that dogs were as intelligent as people and treated
them with great kindness.

Eadie loved spending time with her 7 grandchildren and 5 great
grandchildren.  She often spent weekends or entire weeks looking
after her grandchildren when their parents traveled.

She cherished holiday gatherings, where she engaged in lively
conversation about current events, listened to music played by
those she loved most, and watched her grandchildren play.

She was preceded in death by her brothers: Ansel, Roscoe, Merrel,
Kenneth, and William Shindeldecker, sister Betty Shindeldecker
Carlgren, the father of her children, Emmett, and her son Denny
and daughter-in-law Toni.

Eadie is survived by daughters: Kris and Lyn, grandchildren: Corey Miller
(Alyssa), Noelle Chafin, Katie Glasgow (Brian), Brock Schoenlein (Kate
Bowling), Gabriel Schoenlein (Jade Smarda), Ethan Schoenlein (Kiara
Connelly), and Alayna Byrd (Blake), great grandchildren: Lilly, Avery and
Isabel Glasgow, and Gus and Arlo Schoenlein, her siblings: Rebecca
Shindeldecker (Mike Woebkenberg) and Robert Shindeldecker, and
sister-in-law Darrah High.

The family wishes to express deep gratitude to the staff at Divine at
Shane Hill for their sensitivity and kindness during Eadie’s 10 years
in residence. They also appreciate the gentle support of CHP Hospice
care in her final days.

Eadie was a member of the Mendon United Methodist Church
(now Mendon Community Church), where calling hours will
be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon on Saturday, April 4.
Funeral Services will follow at Noon, with Pastor Don Clinger
Officiating.  Burial will take place at Mendon Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that contributions be
made in Eadie's memory to the Mendon Community Church.
