DAYTON — It took two overtimes to decide it, but Berlin Hiland edged Marion Local 54-51 in a hard-fought Division VI state championship game at UD Arena.

Both teams battled from start to finish in a defensive showdown that saw neither side able to pull away. Marion Local stayed composed throughout regulation, matching Berlin Hiland shot-for-shot and forcing extra time after a tight fourth quarter.

The Flyers continued to fight in the first overtime, trading baskets and defensive stops with Hiland, but the Hawks found just enough in the second overtime period to secure the three-point victory and the state title.
