NWS Confirms 3 EF0 Tornadoes in Shelby, Auglaize Counties Wednesday Morning

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has confirmed that three EF0 tornadoes touched down during Wednesday morning’s storms, including two in Shelby County and one in Auglaize County.

Despite the damage, no injuries or fatalities were reported.

According to the National Weather Service, the first tornado touched down near Anna in Shelby County from 10:17 to 10:20 a.m. That tornado had estimated peak winds of around 80 miles per hour and stayed on the ground for about 1.9 miles. Damage in that area included several destroyed barns, snapped and uprooted trees, and minor roof damage to a home.

A second EF0 tornado was confirmed north of Anna from 10:18 to 10:22 a.m. It also produced estimated winds of around 80 miles per hour and traveled about 3 miles. The National Weather Service said damage there included an overturned RV, downed trees, damaged or destroyed outbuildings, and two semi trailers blown over near Interstate 75.

In Auglaize County, a third EF0 tornado touched down near St. Johns and south of Uniopolis from 10:22 to 10:23 a.m. That tornado had estimated peak winds of around 85 miles per hour and traveled about 0.6 miles. Survey teams reported multiple outbuildings were heavily damaged, with debris carried more than a quarter mile.

While all three tornadoes were considered weak by tornado standards, the National Weather Service said they still caused concentrated damage in parts of Shelby and Auglaize Counties.
