Celina Man Charged With Felony Domestic Violence in Mercer County

A Celina man is facing a felony domestic violence charge in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.

According to a complaint filed in Mercer County Common Pleas Court, 32 year old Jamarcus T. Davis of 414 Echo Street in Celina is charged with one count of domestic violence, a third degree felony, for an incident alleged to have happened on or about March 7th.

Court records say Celina police were dispatched to the Echo Street address at about 11:44 p.m. that night on a report of a domestic violence complaint. A caller reportedly told dispatchers they heard people fighting and had a recorded video showing a female being hit.

According to an affidavit filed by Patrolman Zac Nelson, officers arrived and made contact with a woman identified as the victim. Nelson reported seeing redness and partial bruising on the left side of her face, along with scrapes on her knuckles. The affidavit says the woman told officers she and Davis had been arguing, but denied any physical altercation. Police also noted the odor of alcohol and said she admitted being under the influence.

The affidavit states a neighbor later provided Ring camera video that allegedly showed the woman getting out of a truck behind the residence and walking toward the back door. According to the report, Davis can be heard telling her to get inside the house, calling her a vulgar name, and then striking her on the left side of the face.

Police said they were unable to locate Davis that night.

According to the affidavit, officers returned to the residence the following night, March 8th, at about 9:41 p.m. Police said they saw Davis inside the residence, made contact, and took him into custody. He was then booked into the Mercer County Detention Facility.

The felony charge was elevated based on prior domestic violence convictions listed in the complaint. Court records state Davis was previously convicted of domestic violence in Celina Municipal Court on January 17th, 2013, and again in Mercer County Common Pleas Court on October 1st, 2013.

The case is listed as 26 CRM 023 in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.
