Celina City Schools Reopens Search for High School Principal After Candidate Withdraws

Celina City Schools Reopens Search for High School Principal After Candidate Withdraws

Celina City Schools will reopen its search for a high school principal for the 2026 to 2027 school year after Dr. Kat Childers decided she will no longer pursue the position.

In a statement, the district said leadership assignments for the upcoming school year were shared last week, including the planned recommendation of Childers as the next principal of Celina High School.

However, after that communication was shared and following further reflection, Childers informed the district that she would be stepping away from consideration for the role.

District officials said Childers would have brought proven experience and new ideas to the team, but they respect her decision. According to the statement, she plans to pursue assistant superintendent and superintendent opportunities that better align with her professional goals.

The district said it wishes her the best in those efforts.

With the position now open again, Celina City Schools said it will refresh job postings and continue the search process. The principal opening for the 2026 to 2027 school year will be reposted on social channels and professional platforms including LinkedIn, the Buckeye Association of School Administrators, and the Dayton Consortium.

School officials said their commitment to Celina High School and its students remains the top priority and that the search will move forward.

The district also noted that the rest of the leadership alignments announced last week remain unchanged.

Celina City Schools said it will continue to keep staff and the community informed as the process moves ahead and thanked the public for its continued support of the district and its students.
