Fort Recovery Man Charged with Drug Offenses Following Search Warrant
FORT RECOVERY — A Fort Recovery man is facing felony and misdemeanor drug charges after authorities executed a search warrant at his home last week. According to a complaint filed in Mercer County Common Pleas Court, 52-year-old Robert McGough is charged with possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony, and possessing drug abuse instruments, a second-degree misdemeanor. The charges stem from a February 20 search of McGough’s residence on East Broadway Street. The warrant was executed by members of the Grand Lake Task Force with assistance from the Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Coldwater Police Department. According to an affidavit, investigators located numerous syringes, plastic baggies and a white powder substance inside a desk drawer in the living room. Authorities say the substance field-tested positive for cocaine. The items were seized as evidence. Court documents state the search was part of a broader investigation initiated in the fall of 2025 into individuals in Mercer County allegedly downloading and sharing child sexual abuse material using peer-to-peer networks. Investigators report that electronic devices were also seized from the home. A preliminary on-scene review of one device allegedly revealed dozens of files containing suspected child sexual abuse material. Officials say that investigation remains ongoing. The current charges filed in Mercer County Common Pleas Court are related to the drug evidence discovered during the search.
