Trading cards theft leads to traffic stop in Celina

Two people are facing theft allegations after Celina Police say a pair stole trading cards from a local business twice in the same day.

According to a report from Officer Nathan Miller, police were called around 8:34 Friday night, February 7th, to 1950 Havemann Road for a theft in progress. A representative for the business told officers a man and woman had already been in earlier that morning and allegedly stole trading cards by taking gift bags from the store, filling them with cards, and leaving without paying.

Police say the first theft happened around 6:47 a.m. and the reported value of the stolen merchandise was $689.07.

Later that evening, the same pair reportedly returned and used the same method, this time taking two pink gift bags and leaving in a red Chevrolet Cruze with Ohio plate KVA 8539. The vehicle was last seen heading west on State Route 29.

Police say Patrolman Nelson spotted the vehicle on East Market Street near Buckeye Street and pulled it over. In the report, Nelson noted two pink bags with trading cards were visible inside the car.

The driver was identified as Joseph Brown, 46, of a February 25th, 1979 birthdate. The passenger was identified as Coyota Rohrer, 34, with a March 13th, 1991 birthdate. The report says Brown told officers they had taken “just some ball cards.”

A representative for the business told police both were involved, saying Brown put the cards into the gift bags while Rohrer held the bags open. The reported value of the second theft was $1,266.03.

Both were taken to the Mercer County Detention Facility. Police say the items from the second theft were recovered and returned to the business.
