Fort Recovery reviews 2026 appropriations, ordinance on administrator residency, and major utility project updates

Fort Recovery Village Administrator Aaron Rengers says village officials addressed 2026 financial items and heard updates on several infrastructure projects during the latest village meeting.

Rengers said the village read a resolution to amend appropriations for fiscal year 2026. Officials also completed the second reading of an ordinance that would allow the village administrator to live outside the village limits.

On project updates, Rengers said work continues on the Lagoon Wastewater System Study, with Kleinfelder serving as the project engineer. Rengers said the firm is currently completing 30 percent engineering, which is expected to wrap up in March. After that, the village would move into full engineering and then construction.

Rengers added that the village’s water plant study is also moving forward. He said plans have been submitted to the Environmental Protection Agency for review, with the village expecting feedback as the process continues.

Rengers also noted discussion of a water line extension planned along the north side of U.S. 119 east of town.

In addition, Rengers said bids have been opened for the Systemic Safety Program ODOT Trail  The bid opening was held January 29, 2026, and the apparent low bid came in at $880,000, which Rengers said was about 10 percent below the engineer’s estimate.
