Mercer County Grand Jury Indicts Coldwater Man on Felony, Misdemeanor Charges

A Mercer County grand jury has indicted a Coldwater man in connection with an alleged police pursuit and false statements made to authorities.

Court records show Nathan D. Hoyng, 23, was indicted on January 15, 2026, in Mercer County Common Pleas Court. He faces two charges stemming from an incident that allegedly occurred on December 18, 2025.

The first count charges Hoyng with failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, a fourth-degree felony. According to the indictment, Hoyng is accused of operating a motor vehicle and willfully fleeing or eluding a police officer after receiving a visible or audible signal to stop.

The second count charges Hoyng with falsification, a first-degree misdemeanor. Prosecutors allege he knowingly made a false statement, or affirmed a false statement, with the purpose of misleading a public official in the performance of official duties.

The indictment was returned as a true bill by the Mercer County grand jury. The case is assigned Case No. 26 CRM-008 in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.
