Sports Announcers

Alex Clune

He began his WCSM broadcasting career in November of 2021 after being recommended to the station by his uncle, longtime WCSM announcer Gary Clune. His first broadcast came during a postseason football game between St. Henry and Tri-Village, and he has remained a regular part of WCSM’s sports coverage ever since. He primarily works during the fall and winter seasons, calling football, volleyball, and both boys and girls basketball. While football is his favorite sport to watch, basketball is his favorite to broadcast, appreciating the pace, intensity, and proximity to the action.

One of his most memorable broadcasts came during the 2023 football postseason when he called Celina’s Regional Semifinal matchup at Trotwood-Madison. After trailing by two touchdowns at halftime, the Bulldogs mounted a dramatic second-half comeback and sealed the upset with a last-second interception on a Hail Mary attempt. The win advanced Celina to the state semifinals, giving him the opportunity to call a Final Four game in just his second full season covering football.

Away from the microphone, he is a seventh grade English Language Arts teacher at Celina Middle School, where he has taught full-time since the fall of 2023. He has also coached track and field, previously serving as head junior high coach at Celina. During his tenure, his teams broke 26 school records, highlighted by a first-place finish at the OHSAA Middle School Invitational in 2025. He now serves as a varsity assistant coach specializing in sprints, relays, and long jump.

He currently lives in St. Henry with his dog, Mateo.
