Parkway Board Honors Students, Prepares for May Operating Levy Renewal

Parkway Board Honors Students, Prepares for May Operating Levy Renewal

The Parkway Local Schools Board of Education meeting on January 14 included student recognitions and a preview of an upcoming levy renewal, according to Superintendent Laura Young.

During the meeting, the board honored four students for outstanding achievements. Jayden Green, a senior wrestler, was recognized for breaking the school record for career wins. Green surpassed the previous record of 117 wins and is continuing to add to his total, with additional records potentially within reach.

The board also recognized the top finishers from the Parkway Middle School spelling bee.

In her report, Young noted there were few additional updates, but highlighted an important item for voters. Parkway Local Schools will have an operating levy renewal on the ballot in May. The levy, which is the district’s only operating levy, was originally approved in May 1993 as a 3-year levy. It has since been renewed multiple times and is now a 5-year levy.

Voters will have the opportunity to consider the renewal when it appears on the May ballot.
