Celina BOE January Meeting

The Celina Board of Education held its organizational and regular monthly meetings, beginning with the swearing-in of newly elected board members and the election of Adam Schleicher as board president and Mark as vice president. The board approved its meeting schedule for the year, assigned board liaison roles, adopted standard treasurer, superintendent, and board authorizations, and confirmed that no members will take district-provided insurance benefits.

During the regular meeting, the board received an extensive facilities update highlighting continued progress on the new school construction. Interior spaces are becoming clearly defined as painting, drywall, flooring, ceiling installation, and masonry work continue throughout the building, including classrooms, athletic areas, music spaces, locker rooms, and the stage. District officials also announced a student-led media project through the Bulldog Beat program that will document construction progress using video segments that combine current footage with design animations.

Additional updates included exterior work at the elementary building, where repairs will resume once weather conditions improve, and clarification about temporary plywood openings used for material loading during construction. January was recognized as School Board Recognition Month, with administrators thanking board members for their service and community engagement. Public participation included questions about district expenditures related to the Washington, D.C. trip, donated equipment at the elementary school, future expansion capacity of school buildings, and design plans for the new competition gym floor before the meeting moved on to the treasurer’s report.
