Celina Man Charged With Multiple Felonies Following January 4 Incident

CELINA, Ohio — A Celina man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges following an incident reported on January 4, 2026, according to a criminal complaint filed in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.

Court records show Preston Jones, 23, of 632 Grove Street, Apartment 2A, Celina, was charged in Case No. 26-CRM-001 with four counts stemming from the incident.

Jones is charged with Strangulation, a 4th-degree felony, alleging he knowingly caused or created a substantial risk of physical harm to Victim 1 by means of strangulation or suffocation. The complaint states the alleged victim is a family or household member, or a person with whom Jones is or was in a dating relationship.

He is also charged with Domestic Violence, a 1st-degree misdemeanor, alleging he knowingly caused or attempted to cause physical harm to the same victim.

A third charge, Assault, a 4th-degree felony, alleges Jones knowingly caused or attempted to cause physical harm to Victim 2, identified in the complaint as a peace officer, firefighter, investigator, or emergency medical responder who was performing official duties at the time.

Jones is additionally charged with Resisting Arrest, a 1st-degree misdemeanor, alleging he recklessly or by force resisted a lawful arrest and caused physical harm to a law enforcement officer during the incident.

The complaint was sworn by Isaac J. Daniel of the Celina Police Department and filed with the Mercer County Clerk of Courts at 9:34 a.m. on January 5, 2026.

The case is being prosecuted by the Mercer County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. No court appearance dates were listed in the filing.
