St. Marys Woman Indicted On Failure To Appear Charge In Mercer County

ST. MARYS WOMAN INDICTED ON FAILURE TO APPEAR CHARGE IN MERCER COUNTY

CELINA — A 42-year-old St. Marys woman has been indicted on a felony failure to appear charge following action by a Mercer County grand jury last week.

Tasha Cornwell was indicted Thursday on one count of failure to appear as required by recognizance, a fourth-degree felony. The charge stems from allegations that Cornwell failed to appear in court after being released on her own recognizance in connection with a separate felony case.

According to the indictment, the underlying charge involved receiving stolen property, also a fourth-degree felony. Cornwell was indicted on that charge in August.

If convicted of the failure to appear charge, Cornwell could face up to 18 months in prison and a maximum fine of $5,000.

Court records show Cornwell has not yet entered a plea, and no attorney was immediately listed as representing her.

Cornwell is currently being held without bond at the Mercer County Adult Detention Facility. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 14.
