Domestic Dispute, Drug Paraphernalia Found After Single-Vehicle Crash in Mercer County
A domestic dispute and drug investigation followed a single-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in Mercer County.
According to a report filed by Deputy Justin Barna of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 3:50 p.m. on December 17 to the area of State Route 707 and State Route 49 after a caller reported a vehicle that had gone off the roadway. The caller also reported two individuals outside the vehicle arguing.
When deputies arrived, a female identified as Amanda Jackson was found visibly upset near a tow truck operator. The operator advised law enforcement that the situation appeared to be a domestic issue. A male identified as Victor Price was located farther up the roadway.
Price told deputies that Jackson had been driving and was “hitting a bubble,” a slang term commonly used to describe a glass pipe used for smoking methamphetamine. Price claimed Jackson was smoking meth and said an argument began after Jackson saw a message from another woman on his phone. He alleged Jackson struck him and that he responded by hitting her with his hat.
Jackson provided a different account, telling deputies she had been in Rockford getting gas and was planning to pick up a friend. She stated that Price struck her with his hat during an argument, later hit her in the chin, and that she swatted back. Jackson claimed Price then jerked the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway.
Jackson told deputies that when she picked Price up from Dayton the previous day, he had a meth pipe and she told him to throw it away. She later gave consent for deputies to search the vehicle.
During the search, deputies located two glass pipes with methamphetamine residue in the driver’s door pocket, where Jackson had been sitting. A small clear plastic container containing methamphetamine residue was also found on the passenger-side floorboard, where Price had been seated. The substance was field tested and returned a positive result for methamphetamine.
The report was filed with the Mercer County Clerk of Courts on December 19. The incident remains under investigation, and any charges will be determined through the court process.
