Minster Board of Education Overview- December 15, 2025

The Minster Board of Education met for their monthly meeting Monday evening.

 

Donations

 

The Board accepted the following donations:

  • $250 from Minster Journeyman's Club for volleyball

  • $1500 from Minster Service Club for Battle Bots Club

  • $2500 from Minster Service Club for “Free Student Admission to Athletics”

 

Board Recognition of Students

Curriculum and Instruction

FFA Advisor Ms. Carrie Rhoades and several FFA students spoke of their experiences at the National FFA Convention. The FFA students participated in multiple activities, viewed agricultural products and exhibits, interacted with agricultural companies, examined livestock and gathered information from colleges and universities.

Superintendent’s Report

 

Superintendent Josh Meyer provided the Board with enrollment projections for the next 5 years. Mr. Meyer’s full report can be found here: Superintendent's Report

 

K-6 Principal’s Report

 

Elementary Principal Mrs. Mandy Albers shared the elementary report. Mrs. Albers updated the Board on student achievement data, including congratulating the 74 6th grade students that will be graduating from the DARE program.

7-12 Principal’s Report

 

7-12 Principal Mr. Austin Kaylor shared the Jr/Sr High School update with the Board. He congratulated the 11 students that will be performing with the District 3 OMEA Honors Band in January and congratulated the November Cats of the Month. He also congratulated the Agricultural and Mechanical Systems team for qualifying for the state competition in Wooster. Mr. Kaylor also updated the Board on sophomores interested in attending Tri-Star, the band trip to Florida, juniors taking the Pre-ACT, and the Red Wagon Campaign.

Curriculum and Instruction

 

Treasurer’s Report

 

Treasurer Gina Selby provided the Board with her monthly report. Mrs. Selby updated the Board on transfer to the Permanent Improvement cost center, the W2 and 1099 process and an update on property tax bills that are awaiting Governor DeWine’s signature.

 

Mrs. Selby also provided fund summaries to the Board and a budget performance update.

Superintendent’s Consent Agenda

 

During the Superintendent’s Consent Agenda portion of the meeting the Minster Board approved the following:

  • Recognized outgoing Board member Nick Rentz for his contributions to the Board.

  • Renewed annual membership dues to the Ohio School Boards Association and enrolled in their legal assistance fund.

  • Approved a boys basketball overnight trip to Smithville, OH for January 31, 2026 to February 1, 2026.

 

New Business

 

In new business the Minster Board approved the following items:

 

  • A resolution of necessity for renewal Permanent Improvement Levy

  • A land purchase contract

  • Authorized the superintendent and/or treasurer to execute a real estate purchase and sale contract and to purchase real estate.

  • Set the January Organizational Meeting for Monday, January 5.

  • Appointed Sara Corona as President Pro Tempore for the Organizational Meeting.

  • Established compensation of Board members at $50 per meeting.

 

The Board set Monday, January 5 at 7 PM in the Large Group Room as the time for their next monthly meeting.

 

Personnel Recommendations

 

The Board approved the following Personnel Recommendations:

  • Accept the retirement resignation of Phyllis Kremer, effective November 30, 2026.

  • Offered Corrie Holthaus a classified sub secretary contract.

  • Approved Ethan Lehmkuhl as a boys basketball volunteer.

Executive Session

 

The Board of Education entered into Executive Session to discuss the employment and compensation of a public employee, to consider details relative to the district’s security arrangements and emergency response protocols, and the purchase or sale of property. No action was taken after the Executive Session.
