Coldwater School Board Reviews Finances, Special Education, Winter Events, and Major Facility Projects
Coldwater Exempted Village Schools Superintendent Doug Mader shared highlights from the December 9 board meeting, where members covered everything from year-to-date finances to upcoming facility upgrades.
Treasurer Jen McCoy opened the meeting with a detailed financial update, outlining current revenues, expenses, and a month-end accounts payable summary so board members could review exactly how district funds were distributed.
Director of Student Services Amy Mesher followed with a Special Education report, including preparations for next year’s state audit. She noted that the department is actively reviewing its processes to ensure readiness.
Mader also updated the board on the busy winter season across the district. The band concert took place last Sunday, the choir concert is scheduled for this coming Sunday, and second graders performed their rescheduled program immediately following the meeting.
The superintendent then outlined five major infrastructure projects set to begin soon:
Installation of two new chillers
New middle school flooring
New windows for the kindergarten, first, and second grade wing
Paving work in the drop-off and pickup circle
Paving the gravel lot across from the high school
The board also approved several resolutions and formally accepted donations to the district’s First Tech Club, expressing appreciation for the continued support from the Coldwater community.
The meeting adjourned at approximately 7 pm.
