St. Marys Council to review 2026 budget, employee pay ordinances at Dec. 8 meeting


ST. MARYS COUNCIL TO REVIEW 2026 BUDGET, EMPLOYEE PAY ORDINANCES AT DEC. 8 MEETING

St. Marys City Council will meet Monday, Dec. 8, at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at the City Building, where members are set to hear reports, review several employee wage ordinances, and consider new 2026 budget legislation.

The meeting will open with roll call, prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance, and approval of previous minutes.

Council will hear the mayor’s report along with updates from the tax commissioner and the director of public service and safety. The Finance Committee is also scheduled to report.

A series of second-reading emergency wage ordinances will be considered, including pay and benefit measures for the fire chief and non-union fire department employees, supervisory and non-represented city personnel, the police chief and non-union police employees, city dispatchers represented by the Ohio Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, and a salary adjustment for the director of public service and safety. Council will also hear the second reading of a resolution allowing the city to dispose of property through online bidding.

New legislation up for introduction includes the city’s 2026 appropriation ordinance covering next year’s operational expenses, along with an emergency measure authorizing purchases of materials, equipment, and services for city departments.

Council will also consider moving its Dec. 22 meeting to Dec. 30 at 5:15 p.m.
