Midwest Electric members donate to organizations through their community connection fund


Midwest Electric recently donated $14,550 to 17 west-central Ohio charities and community projects through the cooperative’s Community Connection FundVan Wert County Humane Society

Thanks to the 90% of members who round up their electric bill and donate to this fund, Midwest Electric has donated more than $1.4 million to over 1,200 local charitable causes since 1998.

The latest CCF grant recipients include:

  • Van Wert County Human Society; $800 to provide low-cost spay and neuter services
  • Delphos Journey Baseball Association; $600 for uniforms, equipment, and tournament fees
  • Marimor Legacy Foundation; $1,000 to build a restroom at Marimor Legacy Park
  • Cornerstone of Hope; $800 to expand services across Northwest Ohio
  • Delphos Community Christmas Project; $500 to provide a happy Christmas for needy children in the Delphos School District
  • Family Promise of Lima Allen County; $1,500 to help families experiencing homelessness
  • Allen County Sheriff’s Posse; $1,000 to purchase equipment and facilities for their horses
  • New Knoxville Class of 2030; $1,000 to provide families with financial assistance for their child’s Washington D.C. trip
  • New Knoxville High School; $500 to purchase reading books for the high school English classroom library
  • Wapakoneta Area Ministerial Association; $1,000 for the Annual Servants Day projects
  • Riverside Art Center; $900 to purchase a new computer
  • Breaking Bread Community Meal; $1,000 to fund the free meal service of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in St. Marys
  • Mercer County Imagination Library; $1,000 for the free book gifting program in Mercer County
  • VFW – Bailey Schockman Post 5135; $500 to purchase doors, lighting, and paint for their building
  • NextStep; $750 to provide employment services
  • VentureLINX; $1,000 for their building expansion
  • MAV Youth Mentoring; $700 to purchase supplies for Lunch Club programs

The Midwest Electric Community Connection Fund is a voluntary charitable program. Participating members monthly electric bills are rounded up to the next dollar, with the additional pennies deposited in the Fund. A Board of Trustees, composed of nine cooperative members and separate from the Midwest Electric Board of Trustees, oversee the application and allocation process.
