Auglaize County indicts three in connection with 2022 death of Timothy Hovanec

Auglaize County Sheriff Michael Vorhees and County Prosecutor Ben Elder have announced new indictments against three people linked to the 2022 death of 36-year-old Timothy S. Hovanec.

The indictments were issued by the Auglaize County Grand Jury and follow a lengthy investigation that began on April 26, 2022. The three suspects — Amanda L. Hovanec, Anthony A. Theodoru, and Anita M. Green — were previously convicted on federal charges related to the case, including distribution of a controlled substance resulting in death and accessory after the fact. They are currently serving prison sentences in Alabama and Louisiana.

The new county charges are as follows:

  • Amanda L. Hovanec, 38: One count of aggravated murder and one count of tampering with evidence.

  • Anita M. Green, 65: One count of complicity to aggravated murder and one count of complicity to tampering with evidence.

  • Anthony A. Theodoru, 37: One count of complicity to aggravated murder and one count of tampering with evidence.

Authorities say all three will be transported back to Auglaize County to face the new charges.
