Student’s threatening comment prompts lockdown, police pursuit at Lincolnview Schools
Lincolnview Local Schools administrators, the school resource officer, and local law enforcement officials have confirmed an incident Tuesday afternoon involving a student who made a threatening comment toward another student.
The district reported that no weapons were involved on school property and no physical injuries occurred. According to a statement from the school, staff were speaking with the student when the student abruptly left the building, triggering immediate safety protocols. The building went into lockdown for about 20 minutes, from approximately 2:15 to 2:35 p.m., while a secured area was maintained and additional law enforcement officers responded.
Scanner traffic indicated the student stole a vehicle from the school parking lot and led officers on a pursuit that reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour. The student later wrecked the vehicle, stole another one, and was eventually located in Lima, where the student was taken into custody.
The district said the student is now with authorities, and any violations of the student code of conduct will result in consequences from both the school and law enforcement. Charges are expected.
School officials noted that counseling and guidance staff will be available to any students or employees who may need support.
“Lincolnview Local Schools remains committed to maintaining a safe learning environment,” the district said in its statement. “The district regularly reviews safety protocols and works closely with local law enforcement and mental health partners to prevent and respond to threats when they occur. We always encourage students and families to speak up if they see or hear anything concerning. Working together equals a safer school for students to learn and grow.”
School officials also thanked local law enforcement for their rapid response and continued support.
