Rockford Council Highlights Rocktoberfest Plans, Project Updates, and No-Solicitation Reminder

The Rockford Village Council met Tuesday evening, October 21, with Mayor Searight inviting area residents to attend this weekend’s Rocktoberfest celebration.

The event will take place Saturday, October 25, in downtown Rockford. Rocktoberfest runs from noon to 4 p.m., followed by trick-or-treat from 5 to 6:30 p.m., and costume judging at the Rockford Fire Department. The festival will feature a car show, food trucks, games, and a variety of vendors.

Mayor Searight also reminded residents that the village has a no solicitation ordinance, meaning no one should be going door to door selling items. Residents who encounter solicitors are asked to contact the Rockford Police Department.

The general election will be held November 4 at the Rockford Community Building, and all residents are encouraged to vote.

Village Administrator Aaron Temple reported that Phase Two of the Shanes Crossing Subdivision project is ahead of schedule, with several inquiries already coming in about purchasing lots. Street repair work will continue over the next few weeks before the onset of winter weather, and leaf pickup will begin Monday, November 3. Residents are asked to keep leaves off the streets and away from mailboxes, signposts, and utility poles.

Temple also announced that the restroom renovation project at Shanes Park will begin November 3, and restrooms will be unavailable during construction.

Council approved payment of bills totaling $34,806.22 and accepted the Mayor’s Court pay-in of $1,004.
