Dr. James Reichert Appointed Acting Mercer County Coroner Following Heinrichs’ Retirement

The Mercer County Commissioners have appointed Dr. James Reichert as acting county coroner following the resignation of longtime coroner Dr. Timothy Heinrichs.Heinrichs announced his retirement effective immediately on October 10th, ending more than three decades of service to Mercer County. He first took office in 1989, was elected to his first full term in 1992, and most recently won re-election in 2024. Reichert has served as deputy coroner for about 16 years and currently works as He serves as Chief of Surgery at Grand Lake Health System and is general surgeon and Medical Director for the Center for Healthy Weight & Wellness at Mercer Health..By law, the Mercer County Republican Party Central Committee will now appoint a permanent coroner within 45 days.
